Syed Ahmad Idid pension issue falls under JPA jurisdiction
Chief Justice Tun Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh has stated that the pension issue regarding former High Court Judge Datuk Syed Ahmad Idid falls under the jurisdiction of the Public Service Department (JPA), rather than the judiciary.
Syed Ahmad Idid, who served as a High Court Judge for six years, lost his pension following his resignation. His resignation followed disclosures regarding former Chief Justice Tun Mohamed Eusoff Chin and senior lawyer Datuk V. K. Lingam. These disclosures led to a 2007 Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) investigating allegations of interference in judicial appointments.
The Chief Justice clarified that the judiciary cannot determine pension eligibility and that Syed Ahmad Idid must apply directly to the JPA for a decision.
