Syed Asim Munir visits Peshawar to review counterterrorism efforts

Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited Corps Headquarters Peshawar to review the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. During the visit, Munir was briefed on ongoing counterterrorism efforts, border security measures, and the operational readiness of military units in the region.

Munir emphasized the military’s commitment to defeating terrorism and establishing stability across Pakistan. He instructed all units to maintain high levels of vigilance and preparedness. As part of the visit, he laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada to honor those who died combating terrorism.

The visit follows a recent deadly attack on Kohat’s Police Lines that killed 22 people, including 16 police officers and six civilians. In the aftermath of that incident, security forces conducted an overnight clearance operation involving elite commandos and the Counter Terrorism Department, which resulted in the deaths of eight militants, including two suicide bombers.
