Sylhet Agricultural University launches first Plant Health Clinic

Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU) has inaugurated the first ‘Plant Health Clinic’ in Sylhet, located within the Department of Plant Pathology and Seed Science. The facility was established under a sub-project of the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) project, funded by the World Bank and the Government of Bangladesh through the University Grants Commission (UGC).

During the opening ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Safiullah Mazumder emphasized that national food security depends heavily on maintaining healthy, disease-free crops. He noted that the clinic aims to create a bridge between university researchers and field-level farmers, allowing for timely disease identification and eco-friendly pest control. Additionally, the clinic will serve as a practical research hub for students to engage with modern technology-driven agricultural science.
