Sylt climate activists deflate tires on luxury SUVs
Climate activists from a group known as the 'Widerstandskollektiv' targeted numerous vehicles on the North Sea island of Sylt. During the night on Tuesday, the group manipulated tire valves using red lenses to allow air to escape slowly from SUVs.
The activists claimed in an email to have affected approximately 50 luxury vehicles, marking them with messages criticizing the environmental impact of high-resource vehicles. While the group cited the climate burden of such cars, police reported approximately 20 cases by midday.
Authorities have opened an investigation into the group's actions. However, police stated that no criminal offense has been identified because the tires themselves were not destroyed.
