Sylvan Adams and Reza Pahlavi discuss future Israel‑Iran diplomatic ties in Paris

The President of the World Jewish Congress, Sylvan Adams, met the Iranian Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi in Paris on July 26. Both expressed hope for the overthrow of the Islamic regime in Iran and the establishment of a democratic, pluralistic state. Adams said, “We discussed our hope for the freedom and liberation of the long‑suffering Iranian people,” and pledged the support of the global Jewish community.

During the meeting Adams presented two mezuzahs crafted from Jerusalem stone—one intended for a future Israeli embassy in Tehran and the other for a prospective Iranian embassy in Jerusalem. The discussion took place amid a temporary lull in recent U.S.–Iran naval confrontations in the Gulf, underscoring the symbolic nature of the outreach between the opposition figure and the Jewish organization.
