Sylvester Stallone Biopic 'I Play Rocky' Announces November Release

Peter Farrelly's forthcoming biographical drama I Play Rocky tells the behind‑the‑scenes story of how Sylvester Stallone wrote and insisted on starring in the 1976 film Rocky. Actor Anthony Ippolito portrays Stallone, depicting his struggle to convince United Artists to let him play the lead he had written for himself. A trailer released this week recreates iconic moments from the original movie and illustrates Stallone’s negotiations with producers, including his refusal to sell the script without the starring role. The film is scheduled to open in theaters on 6 November.

The project joins Farrelly’s previous work on Green Book and features supporting cast members including Stephan James, Anna Sophia Robb and Matt Dillon.
