Amazon MGM Studios Releases 'I Play Rocky' Trailer on Stallone's Rise
Amazon MGM Studios unveiled the first official trailer for the upcoming biographical drama I Play Rocky. The film, directed by Oscar‑winning Peter Farrelly, follows a young Sylvester Stallone (portrayed by Anthony Ippolito) as he writes the screenplay for Rocky and refuses to sell it unless he can star in the lead role. The trailer highlights Stallone’s financial hardships, his refusal of offers up to $200,000, and his determination to become the on‑screen boxer. Supporting cast members include Matt Dillon, AnnaSophia Robb, Stephan James, P. J. Byrne, Toby Kebbell, Tracy Letts, Jay Duplass and Kiki Seto. I Play Rocky will open in select U.S. theaters on 6 November 2026, with a wider release on 20 November 2026, timed to the 50th anniversary of the original 1976 Rocky film. While Stallone has said he was not involved, the director reports that Stallone read the script and gave his approval.
