Sylvester Stallone completes script for new Rocky film
Sylvester Stallone has finished a screenplay for a potential seventh Rocky film, marking 50 years since the original movie debuted in 1976. The 80-year-old actor, who created and portrayed Rocky Balboa across six films, indicated that the new story would explore the character's life outside the ring as he ages and adapts to changes in his Philadelphia neighborhood.
Stallone noted that the plot would involve Balboa dedicating himself to helping less fortunate people, though he admitted, “I just wrote it for myself,” expressing uncertainty regarding its commercial appeal. While the script exists, no official production contracts or release dates have been announced. Stallone also expressed interest in developing a prequel set in the 1960s to explore the origins of the characters.
In related news, the biographical film “I Play Rocky,” which follows Stallone’s struggle to bring the original character to the screen, is scheduled for a limited theatrical release on November 6, expanding to a national market on November 20.
