Sylvester Stallone discusses directing ambitions and past career fears

Sylvester Stallone has reflected on his career trajectory and his desire to transition into more directing work. Comparing the passage of time to the ticking of Big Ben, the actor expressed an ambition to follow the path of Clint Eastwood by focusing on directing films in which he does not necessarily have to act.

In a separate reflection on his past, Stallone recalled one of the most terrifying experiences of his career during the filming of the 1981 neo-noir thriller ‘Nighthawks’. He described a scene where he hung approximately 75 meters above the East River from a helicopter. The actor, who noted a near-manic fear of heights, expressed significant anxiety due to the wind and the potential for the steel cable to snap, an fear heightened by witnessing a suicide near the filming location the previous day.
