Sylvester Stallone discusses intense rivalry with Arnold Schwarzenegger

Sylvester Stallone has provided new details regarding his long-standing rivalry with Arnold Schwarzenegger, describing the 20-year feud as feeling like “life and death.” Speaking to The Sunday Times Magazine, Stallone noted that the two actors were “at each other’s throats” as they competed for similar roles during the 1980s.

Stallone compared the intensity of his professional rivalry to the ferocity seen in Elon Musk’s legal disputes with Tesla. He remarked that the competitive nature of their relationship acted as a motivator, suggesting that the friction between them was necessary for their professional growth.

The rivalry, which began around 1985, involved frequent public insults and competition for film projects. While the two stars have since become friends, Stallone previously shared that Schwarzenegger would occasionally attempt to influence his film choices by expressing interest in specific roles.
