Sylvester Stallone reveals personal struggles in new memoir

In his new memoir, ‘The Steps’, and recent interviews, Sylvester Stallone has shared deeply personal reflections on his life, career, and the physical toll of Hollywood stardom. The 80-year-old actor revealed that during the filming of ‘Rocky III’ in 1982, his obsession with maintaining an extreme physique led to bulimia and the use of steroids. He noted that his body fat dropped to 2.6 percent, causing his face to appear ‘hollow’ on screen.

Stallone also addressed significant personal traumas, including a difficult childhood, a complicated relationship with his late mother, Jackie Stallone, and the devastating loss of his son, Sage, in 2012. He described the news of Sage’s death as ‘cold’ and spoke candidly about the lingering guilt and grief that followed.

Regarding his legacy, Stallone expressed mixed feelings about the upcoming biopic ‘I Play Rocky’, noting that while he initially felt it was premature, he was impressed by Anthony Ippolito’s performance. He also offered a critique of the modern film industry, suggesting that the current cultural and ideological landscape would make it nearly impossible for an unknown actor to rise through the ranks with an underdog story like ‘Rocky’ today.
