Sylvester Stallone recalls devastating news of son Sage's death
In his memoir, ‘The Steps: A Memoir’, actor Sylvester Stallone reflects on the devastating loss of his eldest son, Sage Stallone, who died in 2012 at the age of 36 due to coronary artery disease.
Stallone describes the manner in which he received the news as particularly traumatic. He recalls receiving a call from Dr. Stephen Levine, his mother’s third husband, while working on a screenplay. The actor characterized the communication as cold and unemotional, noting that the caller provided the news briefly without offering support or condolences.
The actor also touched upon the complex relationship he shared with Sage. While they experienced periods of strain in the past, they had reconciled following their work together on the film ‘Rocky V’. Stallone expressed profound grief and lingering feelings of guilt regarding his son’s passing and the future Sage had intended to build outside of acting.
