Sylvie Josserand files senatorial candidacy in Gard

Sylvie Josserand, a deputy for Gard and former MEP, has officially filed her candidacy for the senatorial elections scheduled for September 27. Leading an “union” list supported by the Rassemblement National (RN) and the UDR, Josserand aims to represent various geographic sectors of the Gard department, including the Nîmes agglomeration, Petite Camargue, and the Cévennes.

The list features several local elected officials. Nicolas Meizonnet, the mayor of Vauvert and president of the Petite Camargue community of communes, is in second position. Pascale Bordes, the mayor of Bagnols-sur-Cèze, holds the third position. The list is completed by Régis Bourelly, mayor of Saint-André-de-Valborgne, in fourth, and Marie-France Pérignon, first deputy mayor of Beaucaire.

Josserand stated that the candidacy is driven by an attachment to the Gard territory and a desire for field-based action. Her platform includes defending communal autonomy, simplifying regulations, maintaining local public services, protecting rural areas, and securing resources for civil safety regarding risks such as fires and flooding.
