SYNAPGREF suspends court clerks strike in Chad
The National Union of Court Clerks (SYNAPGREF) announced on Thursday, September 24, 2026, in N’Djamena, the suspension of its strike for one month. The decision follows a meeting on September 17 between union representatives and the Minister of Justice, Ndolenodji Alixe Naimbaye.
According to union spokesperson Me Richard Maxhon Baba, the Ministry of Justice has committed to addressing the clerks' demands, which include improving working conditions and revaluing their professional status through a review of relevant legal texts.
The strike suspension is effective until October 23, 2026. The union clarified that the strike has been suspended rather than fully lifted to allow for continued dialogue. SYNAPGREF plans to hold a new general assembly on October 26 to evaluate the ministry's progress and determine future actions.
