Synchronicity Earth funds primate conservation in Vietnam

The UK-based organization Synchronicity Earth is providing over 6.5 billion VND to support the conservation of two rare primate species: the red-shanked douc langur and the grey-shanked douc langur. The project is scheduled to run from October 2026 to September 2029.

In Da Nang, the initiative will focus on the red-shanked douc langur. Activities include community education, resource mobilization, and enhancing biodiversity conservation across seven wards, excluding the Son Tra Peninsula. The Da Nang Union of Science and Technology Associations will manage the project, with the Green Water Biodiversity Conservation Center serving as the implementing unit.

In Quang Ngai, the project targets the grey-shanked douc langur. Efforts will be concentrated in the Tu Mo Rong protection forest, Chu Mom Ray National Park, and Dak Tang village. Key objectives include strengthening scientific databases, protecting priority populations, and promoting local community involvement in forest resource protection and sustainable livelihoods linked to conservation.
