Polish entrepreneurs invest 500 million PLN in SMR project

A group of prominent Polish entrepreneurs is investing approximately 500 million PLN into Synthos Green Energy (SGE) to advance the development of small modular reactors (SMRs). The investment group includes notable business figures such as Rafał Brzoska (InPost), Mati Staniszewski (ElevenLabs), Krzysztof Pawiński (Maspex), and Dariusz Gałęzewski (OSHEE).

Combined with 400 million EUR (approximately 1.35 billion PLN) from foreign partners, including a 100 million EUR contribution from GE Vernova, the total capital will support SGE’s efforts to deploy BWRX-300 reactors across Poland, Central and Eastern Europe, and the United Kingdom. Investors cited the need for stable, competitive energy to support industrial growth and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence.

Separately, Polish state energy giant Orlen and a consortium of American firms, Westinghouse and Bechtel, have reached an agreement on key commercial terms for the construction of Poland’s first large-scale nuclear power plant. While negotiations for the final contract are expected to continue through 2026, the agreement establishes a framework for risk distribution and business parameters for the project.
