Syracuse coach Fran Brown retains Steve Angeli as starting quarterback

Syracuse head coach Fran Brown has confirmed that Steve Angeli will remain the starting quarterback for the upcoming game against the UConn Huskies. Despite media speculation regarding a change at the position, Brown stated that Angeli is better prepared and showing improved movement during practice.

Following a bye week, the team has focused on addressing critical issues identified in previous games, including pre-snap penalties, missed tackles, and offensive consistency. Brown emphasized that the coaching staff spent the break working on ball security, creating takeaways, and improving blocking and tackling fundamentals.

Personnel updates include the return of top recruit Calvin Russell, who has been cleared to play, and an expected increased role for Ahmad Miller following his recent performance. Additionally, Shay Barker is set to handle place-kicking duties. Brown also noted that the offensive line is working to reach its full potential to help resolve struggles in long-yardage situations.
