Syracuse councilor Andrea Buccheri leaves Francesco Italia group

The “Francesco Italia Sindaco” council group in Syracuse has expressed regret following the decision by councilor Andrea Buccheri to leave the group and join the Gruppo Misto.

In a formal statement, the group emphasized that Buccheri’s departure does not represent a political shift or a change in the governing majority supporting Mayor Francesco Italia. They characterized the move as a personal political repositioning by Buccheri in anticipation of upcoming elections rather than a change in the administration's stability or policy direction.

The group maintained that the majority remains intact and committed to the civic program established during the election. Gaetano Romano has been named the new group leader, joining members Andrea Firenze and Giuseppe Casella.
