Syracuse football faces quarterback shortage due to injuries

Syracuse University's football program is facing a significant quarterback crisis following a series of injuries. After starting three different quarterbacks earlier this season, the team may have to turn to a fourth following a 28-25 loss to Virginia.

Malachi Nelson, a former top high school recruit, exited the game against Virginia late in the fourth quarter with an upper-body injury, potentially involving his collarbone. This injury forced fourth-string quarterback Danny Lauter, a transfer from Georgetown, to finish the game. Lauter may be called upon to start next week against Louisville.

Other key players remain sidelined: Amari Odom missed the Virginia game due to a shoulder injury sustained during a victory against UConn, with coach Fran Brown noting that Odom had difficulty lifting his arm. Additionally, original starter Steve Angeli remains out as he recovers from an Achilles injury.
