Syria and Germany discuss academic and research cooperation

A delegation from the Syrian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research conducted a two-day visit to Berlin to explore ways to enhance academic and research cooperation between Syria and Germany. The delegation, which included officials such as Abdul Hamid al-Khaled and Nabil Qoushji, met with representatives from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), members of the Bundestag, and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Discussions focused on addressing challenges facing Syrian universities, expanding academic exchange programs, supporting scholarships, updating curricula, and training teaching and research staff. The visit also included participation in a dialogue event at Humboldt University titled “Higher Education in the Syrian Transformation Path,” which addressed the reform of the Syrian higher education system and the role of international partnerships.
