Syria and Jordan strengthen military cooperation

Syria and Jordan are strengthening their military cooperation through enhanced security coordination and the exchange of military expertise. During a recent visit to Amman, Syrian Military Police Commander Brigadier General Abdul Qader Tahous met with his Jordanian counterpart, Brigadier General Abdul Karim al-Sabila, to discuss ways to improve cooperation and coordination between the two nations.

This defense approach is particularly significant due to the fragile situation in southern Syria. The two countries have already established stable communication channels and a high-level coordination council to manage mutual interests. Jordan has also played a mediating role in the Suwayda region, contributing to a roadmap for political settlement.

Furthermore, Jordan has facilitated diplomatic efforts involving Syria and Israel. Under American mediation, Amman recently hosted a meeting between Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Saibani and the Director of Mossad, Roman Gofman, aimed at reducing tensions following Israeli strikes in Idlib and developments in southern Syria.
