Syria arrests nine pilots for alleged war crimes

Internal Security Forces in Latakia, Syria, in cooperation with the Counter-Terrorism Branch, have arrested nine pilots accused of committing war crimes during the era of former President Bashar al-Assad.

Brigadier General Abdul Aziz al-Ahmad stated that the arrests followed extensive monitoring, intelligence gathering, and investigations. The detained individuals include several high-ranking officers, such as Brigadier General Manhal Anwar Saleh, Brigadier General Sami Ibrahim Mahmoud, and Brigadier General Ghiath Ali al-Rahiya, along with several colonels and captains.

According to authorities, these pilots utilized their positions in the fighter and helicopter aviation branches to conduct bombing operations and strikes. These actions resulted in significant casualties, the destruction of homes and civilian infrastructure, and the displacement of local populations across various provinces. The suspects will be referred to the competent judiciary to face justice for their alleged involvement in these violations.
