Syria closes Nasib border crossing with Jordan

Syria has suspended all passenger and commercial traffic at the Nasib border crossing with Jordan due to escalating military tensions in the Daraa governorate. The decision, announced by the Syrian General Authority for Ports and Customs on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, aims to ensure the safety of travelers and border personnel.

The closure follows Jordanian airstrikes targeting locations in southern Syria. The Jordanian military stated the operation, named ‘Jordanian Deterrence-Hamoud’, was a response to an attack on a church in Karak that killed several people. Jordan reported the strikes destroyed terrorist sites and neutralized various militants.

Syrian officials reported that the strikes resulted in the deaths of seven individuals. The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed strong reservations regarding the military actions, noting they were conducted without prior coordination with the Syrian government.
