Syrian security forces dismantle ISIS cell across four provinces

Syrian security forces, including the General Intelligence Service and Internal Security Forces, have dismantled an Islamic State (Daesh) cell operating across four provinces: Raqqa, Aleppo, Idlib, and Homs.

Authorities reported that the cell originated in the Raqqa governorate and was involved in kidnappings, assassinations, and the planting of explosive devices. During a series of pre-emptive operations, security forces arrested four cell leaders in Raqqa and several other members in Aleppo, Idlib, and Homs.

Seized materials included explosives, weapons, and ammunition that were reportedly prepared for terrorist attacks intended to destabilize the region. Preliminary investigations have linked the group to five kidnapping operations. Investigations are ongoing as authorities prepare to refer the suspects to the judiciary.
