Syria arrests alleged Hezbollah cell in Daraa over rocket plot

Syrian security forces have arrested three individuals in the Yarmouk Basin of western Daraa province, according to the Syrian Interior Ministry. The General Intelligence Directorate and internal security forces conducted what they described as a preemptive operation after monitoring the suspects.

Authorities claim the cell is affiliated with the Lebanese group Hezbollah and was in the process of preparing rocket launching platforms. The stated objective of the cell was to carry out attacks intended to destabilize security and stability in the region. Security forces reported that the rocket launchers were completely dismantled during the operation.

Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects are expected to be referred to the judiciary. While the Syrian authorities have not specified the intended targets of the planned attacks, the incident occurs amid heightened tensions in southern Syria. Hezbollah has categorically denied any connection to the cell, stating the group has no presence or military involvement on Syrian soil.
