Syria establishes advanced technology education pathway

President Ahmad al-Sharaa has issued Presidential Decree No. 183 of 2026, establishing the ‘Advanced Technology National Pathway’ in Syria. This initiative aims to transition the national education system from a traditional model to an integrated track that spans from secondary school to applied university research.

Under the supervision of the Ministries of Education and Higher Education, the decree mandates the creation of specialized ‘Advanced Technology Schools’ at the secondary level. Admission to these schools will be determined by a national entrance examination based on scientific criteria. The curriculum will focus on two primary specializations: ‘Digital Advanced Technology’ and ‘Industrial Advanced Technology’.

Following secondary completion, students can progress to ‘Faculties of Advanced Technology’ within public universities. The program is designed to align educational outcomes with the modern labor market, specifically targeting digital transformation and industrial development to prepare highly qualified national cadres in innovation and advanced technology.
