Syria launches English-language media platform Syrian Response

Syria’s Information Ministry has launched ‘Syrian Response’, an English-language media platform designed to communicate directly with international audiences and counter misinformation. The platform aims to provide updates on the country’s politics, economy, security, and daily life, which the ministry claims are often misrepresented or lack coverage in English.

The launch coincides with the United States removing Syria from its list of state sponsors of terrorism after 47 years. U.S. officials stated this decision followed official assurances from President Ahmed al-Sharaa’s government that Syria will not support international terrorism in the future. Washington described the move as removing a ‘major final barrier’ to private sector investment and the reintegration of Syria into the global economy.

As part of its efforts to signal economic normalization, the new platform has already highlighted developments such as the return of international card payments in Damascus. The Sharaa administration is seeking to restore diplomatic and economic ties with foreign governments and international investors following years of isolation under the previous administration.
