Syria participates in TRT World Forum 2026 in Istanbul

The 10th TRT World Forum has commenced in Istanbul, Turkey, featuring participation from Syrian Information Minister Khaled Zaarour alongside international officials, experts, and media professionals. The forum, themed “A World Without a Center When Rules No Longer Apply,” focuses on the future of media, global transformations, and shifting international power dynamics.

Minister Zaarour stated that Syria’s involvement serves as an opportunity to present the country’s new vision to the international community and to exchange expertise regarding media governance and legislation. Discussions at the event include artificial intelligence, energy crises, international law, and global economic priorities.

Political advisor Farah al-Atassi noted that Syria’s presence reflects its efforts to engage with regional and international platforms during a period of geopolitical challenges. She highlighted the potential for Syrian-Turkish relations to expand from security and political frameworks into broader economic and geopolitical cooperation, positioning Syria as a potential trade and energy corridor between Turkey, the Gulf states, the Eastern Mediterranean, and Europe.
