Syria protests Israeli Prime Minister's entry into its territory
The Syrian mission to the United Nations has submitted a formal protest to the Security Council regarding the entry of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu into Syrian territories. Syrian representatives reported that on September 9, 2026, Israeli officials entered Syrian land and traveled to the summit of Mount Hermon.
Syrian diplomat Ibrahim Albi led a demonstration at the UN in New York, asserting that such actions constitute a flagrant violation of international law and the 1974 Disengagement Agreement. The protest emphasizes that sovereignty and territorial integrity are non-negotiable pillars of the international order.
Damascus has called for immediate international action to protect its sovereignty, noting that Israeli military movements in the demilitarized zone—including land leveling and the establishment of new military observation points—undermine regional stability. The Syrian mission maintains that a sustainable peace requires a full Israeli withdrawal to the June 4 lines.
