Syria reports 14.8 million barrels of oil production in H1 2026

The Syrian Ministry of Energy reported that crude oil production reached 14.8 million barrels during the first half of 2026. This production comes as part of ongoing efforts to rehabilitate the country's energy sector and restore infrastructure following years of decline.

In addition to oil, raw natural gas production totaled 1.429 billion cubic meters, while clean natural gas reached 1.252 billion cubic meters. The ministry also noted the production of 35,500 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). To support these figures, 152 wells were operated, 10 new wells were brought into production, and 21 wells were repaired.

Infrastructure developments included the rehabilitation of the Al-Thawra petroleum center and the Al-Bishri station, as well as the reactivation of a main pumping group in Homs after a 12-year hiatus. The ministry also reported the return of the 'Amrit' offshore rig to service and the preparation of the Al-Dabbousiya gas station to facilitate gas transfers to Lebanon.

To attract international interest, the ministry signed seven memoranda of understanding with global companies and three contracts for petroleum sector development. Regarding imports, Syria received 110 oil tankers and imported 1.5 million tons of crude oil and 1.016 billion cubic meters of natural gas during this period.
