Syria reports two deaths, 32 injuries in traffic accidents and fires
Syrian civil defence teams responded to a surge of incidents over a 24‑hour period, handling 23 traffic accidents that left two people dead and 26 civilians injured. The same teams tackled 191 separate fires across several provinces, including six large field blazes and 185 smaller fires in homes, shops, vegetation and waste sites. The fires caused injuries to one firefighter and five civilians, all of whom received medical treatment. Authorities urged drivers to reduce speed, check vehicle brakes and avoid mobile‑phone use, and appealed to the public not to ignite fires near fields or discard cigarette butts and glass bottles on road edges.
The incidents highlight the ongoing daily risk of road accidents and uncontrolled fires in Syria, prompting repeated safety warnings from the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management.
