Syria weather warning issued for heavy rain and storms

The Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management has issued a warning regarding an atmospheric disturbance expected to affect Syria from Tuesday afternoon through the dawn of Saturday, October 31. The weather event is characterized by heavy rainfall, strong thunderstorms, a high probability of hail, and intense downdrafts.

The disturbance is expected to begin in the Badia regions and parts of the south before gradually spreading to central areas, the northwest, and the Al-Jazira region. While the impact will be most intense in the Al-Jazira, southern, and Badia regions on Wednesday, the coastal areas are expected to see increased thunderstorm activity and heavy rain toward the end of the period.

Authorities have advised citizens to avoid valleys and low-lying areas, stay away from watercourses, and refrain from using mobile phones in open spaces during thunderstorms. Additional safety recommendations include avoiding high ground, electrical towers, and isolated trees, as well as disconnecting sensitive electronic devices and solar power systems.
