Syrian and Qatari businesses launch investment partnership

A Syrian-Qatari investment partnership was launched in the Damascus countryside under the patronage of the Syrian Investment Authority. The event, attended by officials and business leaders from both nations, featured presentations on planned joint projects. Ahmad Rawad Ramadan, director general of the Syrian Investment Authority, stated that Syria is entering a broad phase of construction with opportunities across various sectors.

Sheikh Nayef bin Eid Al Thani, chairman of Tamim Holding Group, identified potential in real estate, industry, agriculture, energy, and technology. Mujd Sherbaji, chair of Glory Holding Group, noted that investing in Syria represents an investment in its people and future. The partnership aims to involve local companies, strengthen Syrian employment, and create jobs.

This development occurs as Gulf investors increasingly target sectors within Syria’s estimated $216 billion reconstruction challenge. While specific agreements and figures were not reported at the launch, broader trends show Gulf capital clustering around specific industries: Emirati investment is focused on ports, logistics, and urban development; Saudi Arabia is targeting aviation, transport, and digital infrastructure; and Qatar has secured a position in electricity generation and international payment systems.
