Syrian Interim Leaders Claim No Foreign Support in Regime Overthrow

Ebu Muhammad al‑Colani, appointed president of the Syrian interim government, told Al Jazeera that the effort to topple the Assad regime was carried out without any external assistance. He emphasized that the movement focused simultaneously on military operations and preparations for reconstruction and economic recovery, describing the overthrow as a regional necessity.

Ahmed Shara, also identified as a Syrian president, made similar statements in an Al Jazeera interview, asserting that no foreign support was received and that the old regime’s removal was essential for Syria and the wider region. Both leaders highlighted Syria’s millennia‑old cultural diversity and called for a separation of Islamic experiences from political ideology while stressing the importance of media outreach and international delegations to convey their work.
