Syrian Mining Company and Lodi Consulting partner on Homs phosphate plant

The Syrian Mining Company has signed a memorandum of understanding with the French firm Lodi Consulting to operate and develop a phosphate washing plant located in Homs. The agreement, signed in Istanbul, aims to study the technical, economic, and investment aspects of rehabilitating the facility and increasing its production capacity.

The plant is designed for an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons. The partnership intends to utilize modern technologies and expertise in phosphate purification and washing to improve product quality and enhance its competitiveness in global markets. This move is viewed as an initial step toward building a broader investment partnership in the Syrian mining sector.

The phosphate washing plant is considered a pivotal project for improving ore quality and increasing local economic value. This follows the reopening of the phosphate plant in the Al-Sharqiya mines in late November 2025, which returned to production for the first time in a decade.
