Syrian Ministry of Energy announces compensation after gasoline contamination

The Syrian Ministry of Energy has concluded an investigation into a gasoline contamination issue that caused damage to numerous citizen vehicles. The investigation revealed that a shipment of gasoline failing to meet standard technical specifications had been unloaded into warehouses belonging to the Syrian Petroleum Company.

While the company attempted to return the non-compliant shipment to its source, an operational error occurred during the transfer process through the pipeline network. This error caused the substandard fuel to mix with compliant gasoline, resulting in a portion of the contaminated mixture entering the local market.

The Ministry announced it will take legal action against those responsible for the error and negligence. Additionally, the Syrian Petroleum Company has been tasked with developing a mechanism to compensate affected citizens, with payments expected to be implemented in successive stages.
