Syrian Petroleum Company begins second phase of Arab Gas Pipeline

The Syrian Petroleum Company has launched the second part of the second phase of the Arab Gas Pipeline project. This segment spans 186 km with a diameter of 36 inches. The project aims to complete a system extending approximately 566 km from the Jordanian border to the Turkish border, designed to operate in both directions.

Key technical features of this phase include an operational storage capacity of approximately 8 million cubic meters and the construction of a gas pressure boosting station equipped with three compressors. The current transport capacity is set at 11 million cubic meters per day, with the potential to increase this to 22 million cubic meters per day in the future.

The project is intended to support electricity generation plants and industrial facilities by enhancing the efficiency of the gas transport system. By completing this phase, Syria seeks to reinforce its role as a regional energy corridor connecting gas sources from the south, such as Jordan and Egypt, with markets to the north, including Turkey and Europe.
