Syrian Post assumes control of Turkish postal offices in northern Syria
The Syrian Post establishment has taken over postal offices previously operated by the Turkish Post in parts of the Aleppo, Raqqa, and Hasakah countryside. This transition aims to reactivate these locations to resume postal and financial services for citizens.
The Syrian Post expressed appreciation to the Turkish Post administration and staff for their professional and humanitarian services during the years of conflict. These services were vital for maintaining financial transfers, aid distribution, and communication channels in areas facing exceptional difficulties.
The handover is viewed as a step toward enhancing institutional and strategic cooperation between the Syrian and Turkish postal services. This includes exchanging expertise, developing financial services, and coordinating international transfers and aid under approved frameworks between both sides.
Turkish postal activity in northern Syria began in October 2017 in Jarabulus and expanded to areas including Al-Bab, Azaz, Raqqa, and Ras al-Ayn. Beyond shipping, these centers functioned as integrated financial systems, managing salaries for workers in health, education, and security sectors, as well as handling cash withdrawals and account management.
