Syrian security forces arrest five former Air Force officers in Tartus

Internal Security Forces, in cooperation with the Terrorism Combatting Department in Tartus, have arrested five high-ranking officers and leaders from the former Syrian Air Force. The detainees include pilots, field commanders, and operations room officers.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Major General Mohammad Fajr Ali, Brigadier General Abdullah Ali Moalla, Colonel Nidal Hussein Saleh, Colonel Mohammad Ali Salim, and Lieutenant Colonel Talib Abdul Karim Hassan.

Investigations and military records indicate the suspects were involved in the planning, management, and execution of aerial bombardments targeting inhabited areas. These operations resulted in significant human casualties, the destruction of residential neighborhoods and infrastructure, and the forced displacement of civilians. Authorities stated that investigations are ongoing to determine specific criminal responsibilities before referring the suspects to the competent judiciary to ensure accountability and transitional justice.
