Syria's Foreign Minister meets Saudi counterpart in Riyadh

Syrian Foreign Minister Assad al-Shaibani met with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, in Riyadh to discuss regional developments and strengthen bilateral ties. During the meeting, al-Shaibani emphasized that Saudi Arabian security is an integral part of Syrian and broader regional security.

Al-Shaibani expressed Syria's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia following recent attacks on civilian facilities within the Kingdom. These attacks, involving missiles and drones, have been attributed by the coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen to Houthi forces. The visit follows a period of increased military escalation in Yemen, marking the widest surge in conflict since the 2022 truce.

In related security developments, the coalition reported the interception and destruction of four drones targeting the southern, Riyadh, and eastern regions of Saudi Arabia. Additionally, a ballistic missile targeting Yanbu and two cruise missiles over the Red Sea were intercepted.
