SYRIZA Announces Independent Run in Upcoming Greek National Election

The Political Secretariat of SYRIZA‑Progressive Alliance confirmed the party will be present and run autonomously in the forthcoming Greek national elections. The decision follows the Central Committee meeting of 11 July and reaffirms the programme adopted at the party’s 5th congress, highlighting the legacy of the 2015‑2019 government.

Party officials said the move ends recent internal uncertainty and that the organisation has sufficient personnel, programme and experience to compete. Preparations are under way to elect a new party president, with MP Pavlos Polakis and former minister Rena Dourou mentioned as possible candidates. Despite a wave of resignations, SYRIZA stresses its readiness to present a unified left‑wing alternative to the electorate.
