SYRIZA announces political counter-offensive and criticizes police action in Thessaloniki
The SYRIZA political party has announced a strategic reorganization and a move toward a political counter-offensive. Following decisions made by its Central Committee, the party aims to strengthen its parliamentary group and increase its involvement in social and political initiatives. Key proposals include the formation of an investigative committee to examine bad loans, investment funds, servicers, and state guarantees related to the Heracles program. Additionally, the party is developing programs focused on social housing, income enhancement, and tax justice.
Separately, SYRIZA branches in Thessaloniki expressed strong condemnation regarding incidents during an anti-fascist gathering on October 28. The party criticized the police response to protesters, which included the use of tear gas and arrests, during an event held in response to a speech by Elias Kasidiaris. SYRIZA described the police intervention as an act of suppression that tarnishes the memory of the October 28 anniversary.
