SYRIZA central committee rejects dissolution, calls for coordinated alliance
On June 6, the SYRIZA central committee met to decide the party’s direction ahead of upcoming elections. A joint amendment presented by Pavos Polakis, Nikos Papap, Rena Dourou and others was adopted, explicitly opposing any self‑dissolution of the party and endorsing a “coordinated cooperation” with other progressive forces.
Parliamentary representative Nikos Papap warned SYRIZA president Socrates Famellos that he must quickly secure an agreement with former prime minister Alexis Tsipras. Without such a deal, Papap said the party’s leadership would face a major problem. The amendment also called for a round‑table of progressive groups, a common program and the establishment of internal committees to implement the plan.
