SYRIZA criticizes Greek government amendment on private universities

The opposition party SYRIZA has criticized the Greek government for passing a “nighttime” amendment regarding the establishment of private universities. The amendment aims to address issues arising from the implementation of the Pierrakakis law, specifically concerning student study duration and credit units.

SYRIZA argues that these legislative corrections are necessary only because of flaws in the government's original design. The party maintains that the move to establish private universities violates Article 16 of the Constitution and calls for the repeal of the Pierrakakis law to strengthen the public university system instead.
