SYRIZA criticizes Olga Gerovasilis over support for Tsipras

Leadership circles within SYRIZA have issued sharp criticisms against Olga Gerovasilis following her announcement of support for Alexis Tsipras’s Greek Left Coalition (ELAS). The party leadership claims her decision to join the new initiative without first resigning her parliamentary seat confirms an “organized plan to dissolve SYRIZA” orchestrated by the previous leadership and a group of independent MPs.

SYRIZA representatives noted that Gerovasilis, who previously held a deputy speakership in Parliament, has not yet surrendered her seat to the party, despite pre-election commitments to do so. The party stated that allowing independent MPs to join Tsipras’s new movement under lenient terms would position the former SYRIZA president as the orchestrator of tactics that failed following the Central Committee's decision in July 2026. The party concluded by calling for those involved to resign for the sake of political integrity.
