SYRIZA leaders advocate for progressive unity and criticize unemployment benefit proposals

Members of the SYRIZA party have addressed key political and social issues during the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair. Giannis Amanatidis, Secretary of the SYRIZA Parliamentary Group, emphasized the party’s commitment to fostering unity within the progressive camp. He noted that SYRIZA remains an active force in the political landscape, focusing on initiatives such as preventing the repayment of low-interest loans and addressing private debt.

Separately, Nikos Pappas, Secretary of the SYRIZA Central Committee, criticized statements made by government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis regarding the limitation of unemployment benefits to two months. Pappas described the stance as “revolting social engineering” and argued that such logic ignores structural unemployment and economic cycles. He called on Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to clarify if this proposal is part of official government planning.
