Syriza leaders clash over strategy for Alex Tsipras’ new party

Former Syriza MP Paulos Polakis publicly challenged party president Socrates Famelos, accusing the leadership of silence on the party’s stance toward former prime‑minister Alex Tsipras’ new political formation. Polakis called on Syriza parliamentarians to openly declare their position, warning that the internal debate could destabilise the party’s parliamentary group (Koumoundourou).

Famelos responded by defending the collective decisions of Syriza’s Central Committee, insisting that the party must stand united behind Tsipras’ initiative and that no further internal questioning is permitted. He framed the move as part of a broader progressive front and rejected calls for dissent, emphasizing the party’s institutional continuity.
