Syriza leadership rejects dissolution scenarios, pledges election participation
Six members of Syriza’s Political Secretariat – Pavlos Polakis, Nikos Pappas, Rena Dourou, Tryfon Alexiadis, Fotini Karystinaki and George Panagiotopoulos – issued a joint statement in response to a proposal by Famelos. They categorically rejected “scenarios of self‑dissolution, dissolution or suspension of our operation”, calling them “unrealistic and offensive”. The statement affirms that Syriza‑PS will take part in the next elections as a coordinated party rather than through individual agreements or “loaned” personnel.
The leaders outlined a plan to create a “round‑table of coordinated forces” and to seek alliances with figures such as Nikos Kotzias, Louka Katseli, Alexis Tsipras, New Left and former coalition partners from the 2015‑19 government. They also proposed establishing an Executive Office, a ballot committee, a program committee and an election‑organising committee to prepare for the electoral campaign.
