SYRIZA official Nikos Pappas calls for youth protests

Nikos Pappas, the Secretary of the Central Committee of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, has called on young people to participate in massive, peaceful demonstrations. Speaking in an interview, Pappas described such mobilizations as ‘oxygen for society’ and a ‘breath for democracy.’

He noted that current social unrest across Europe shares a common denominator: the cost of living. Pappas specifically highlighted the housing and energy crises as primary drivers for mobilization, such as the recent youth protests involving the installation of tents in Syntagma Square. He emphasized that large-scale participation would pressure political parties to adopt solutions to these issues, while urging that protests remain peaceful to avoid being overshadowed by incidents of violence.
