SYRIZA party debates ELAS coalition, leaders Dourou and Polakis reject split

Greek lawmaker Rena Dourou criticised the decision by SYRIZA’s Central Committee to pursue a joint electoral list with Alexis Tsipras’s ELAS party, calling the move a breach of the voters’ will and urging a unified ballot to restore public trust. She warned that internal disputes are diverting the party from policy priorities and devaluing politics.

Pavlos Polakis also rejected the merger proposal, stating that SYRIZA will remain independent and will not be handed over to any other formation. He demanded that any SYRIZA members who intend to join Tsipras’s party do so immediately and called for an organisational restructuring of SYRIZA following the Central Committee’s approval of the Famelos motion for a joint run.
